“The Light of knowledge is fully capable of destroying the darkness of ignorance. This also helps us in overcoming all the difficulties and in achieving success in all our endeavors.”— Samveda
In this quest for the never extinguishing light of knowledge, Dhupguri Girls’ College started its journey in 2013 with the Bengali Department, as one of its major departments. As the journey continued, the Department of Bengali initiated the first batch of Bengali Honours course in 2018. The faculty members, Dr. Keya Mustafi and Mrs. Jyotikona Barman have been relentlessly involved in the process of proactively teaching and guiding the students of the department in both academic and non-academic domains.
The students here get exposure to the incomparable wealth of Bengali language and literature, not just within the four walls of the classroom, but also through interactive sessions like student seminars, quizzes, debates, group discussions, essay competitions as well as through excursions to places of cultural importance. The students also get to express their views and skills in the form of writings and artworks in the regular editions of wall magazines and college magazines. The students take active participation in various cultural events organized in the college.
The alumni of the Bengali Department have been enrolled in Masters’ degree courses and B.Ed. courses in various esteemed universities. The Department strives to thoroughly motivate, support, and prepare the students for their current and future endeavors.
