About the Department

The Department of Environmental Studies at Dhupguri Girls’ College was established at the inception of the college to provide education at the graduate level for students from diverse backgrounds in Arts and Science. The department currently has one faculty member who is actively engaged with students in preparing eco-environment projects and maintaining a strong rapport with them.

Programme Outcome

Learning Outcome Based Curriculum Framework

Environmental Studies prepares students for careers as leaders in understanding and addressing complex environmental issues from a problem-oriented, interdisciplinary perspective.

Programme Learning Outcome

  • Demonstrate mastery of core social science concepts and methods as they pertain to environmental problem-solving.
  • Apply proficiency in analytical methods, critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills sufficient to contribute in environmental and related fields.
  • Reflect critically on their roles and identities as citizens, consumers, and environmental actors in a complex, interconnected world.
  • Understand core concepts and methods of environment and sciences and their application in environmental problem-solving.
  • Recognize the physical, chemical, and biological components of the earth’s systems and how they function.
  • Conduct independent research on human interactions with the environment.

Dhupguri Girls’ College, under North Bengal University, offers Honours and Program courses at the graduate level in the Department of Environmental Studies. The course outcomes for Environmental Studies are as follows:

  • Recognize the physical, chemical, and biological components of the earth systems and understand their functions.

  • Understand the concept of natural resources, their types, and availability.
  • Develop the concept and need for conservation of natural resources and their sustainable development.

Overview
