Dhupguri Girls’ College is established in the year 2013 initiated by the local enthusiastic people interested in spreading education among women in the region. The College had earlier started its journey at a temporary venue at Dhupguri High School Chatra Abasan before shifting to the present venue near Dhupguri - Falakata Road .The present campus of the College which is spread over a sprawling and scenic campus of 5 acres, began its journey on 16 September, 2016. The present campus of the College is situated in College para, Ward No- 1, near Sukanta Mahavidyalaya in the eastern side of Dhupguri town. It is a Government aided Degree College Affiliated to the University of North Bengal. It can be reached from the district town of Jalpaiguri by one hour bus journey. The College at present offers both B.A. (Hons and Program) courses under the CBCS system with a student strength of approximately 1000 girls. The College offers Hons in the subjects like Bengali, English, History, Political Science, and Geography. Besides, Program courses are offered in disciplines like Philosophy, Sanskrit, Education and Sociology. Very recently, a good number of Faculty members in different subjects on substantive posts have joined the college. The College is also aiming to introduce more vocational and job oriented courses and science stream in the coming academic session. Very recently, especially during the pandemic situation, the college has introduced several academic initiatives in the digital platform like Faculty exchange programs, student seminars to make the learning experience more intensive. Besides, the college had also undertaken various developmental programs like opening of college canteen and indoor gymnasium for students with the financial support of NBDD, Government of West Bengal. The NSS unit for girls is also functioning in the college to educate and empower the girl students of the region.
