College at a glance

Dhupguri Girls College is established in the year 2013 initiated by the local enthusiastic people interested in spreading education among women in the region. The College had earlier started its journey at a temporary venue at Dhupguri High School Chatra Abasan before shifting to the present venue near Dhupguri - Falakata Road .The present campus of the College which is spread over a sprawling and scenic area of 5 acres, began its journey on 16 September, 2016. The College is situated in College para, Ward No- 1, near Sukanta  Mahavidyalaya in the eastern side of Dhupguri town. It is a Government aided Degree College Affiliated to the University of North Bengal. It can be reached from the district town of Jalpaiguri by one hour bus journey.

          The College at present offers B.A. (General) Courses with a student strength of 890 girls’ in the subjects like Bengali, English, Sanskrit, History, Political Science, Geography and Philosophy.

Very recently, a good number of Faculty members in different subjects on substantive posts have joined the college. The college authority is also planning to introduce (Hons) courses from the next academic session.

Besides, the college has also undertaken various developmental programs like opening of college canteen and indoor gymnasium for students with the financial support of NBDD, Government of West Bengal. Both, the NSS units for girls and NCC cadet corps will also start functioning in the college premises after receiving the due approval from the University. These programs are designed to educate and empower the girl students of the region.
