This is a message to all the stakeholders of this college, starting from my beloved students to the society at large. Our college is an institution born in the year 2013 with a resolute determination to impart knowledge to the marginalized periphery of rural society; by this I intend to mean that the college caters its services predominantly to the girls of the remote rural society. The college has accepted the word ‘education’ in its holistic entirety. By education, we not only mean passing information to students but to let them know the society; its politics, social fabrics, history, environment and the foremost: to let them learn the techniques to empower themselves to claim the role in the governance of the society. As the poet, Rabindranath Tagore said, “The highest education is that which does not merely give us information but that makes our life in harmony with all existence.” the college also considers bringing in, a harmonious coexistence with all institutions right from religion to varied political thoughts, environment to development, science to believes. With this vision the college is organizing students’ seminars on burning issues, cultural programs, public debates, invited lectures, quiz contests, social and environmental awareness programs, classes on Basic English and computer knowledge and will introduce many more innovative teaching techniques in near future.
The college intends to overcome the limitations of inadequate physical infra-structure, limited number of teachers, and scant number of courses by appealing to the appropriate authorities for assistance in those directions. The institution is already working hard to overcome those obstacles, so that we can convert it into an excellent institution of learning for women in North Bengal. The college pledges to introduce more relevant degree courses as well as courses on cross-cutting subjects in near future.
We are fortunate enough that the institution has a very talented group of faculty members, who are not only experts in their own realm of schooling but has a wide range of academic adventure. You would be happy to know that many teachers are pursuing their Ph.D. degrees and many more will do the same soon. Presently, we have a group of 12 permanent (substantive) teachers out of which five (5) have successfully completed their Ph.D. degree. The office of a college is its backbone; in this area also we are fortunate enough to have a group of four (4) dedicated permanent staffs along with 8 casual staffs.
Lastly, I would like to humbly address the greater society that women are capable to excel in every field of life, what they need: is a level playing ground and a free dignified life to lead. Our father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi said, “To call woman the weaker sex is a libel; it is man's injustice to woman. If by strength is meant moral power, then woman is immeasurably man’s superior”. Our institution also believes that one day we will be able to resist the bigotry of the society which suggest woman is the weaker sex. And we will do it by sheer moral strength and the best practices of learning.
